Why is there no breast milk bank in Israel?
The first attempt to establish such a bank in Israel was in 2004, when Oren Melbarger, chairman of the Israel Association for Premature Infants, approached Knesset member Naomi Blumenthal with the initiative to establish a government body that would provide breast milk to women who, for one reason or another, have difficulty breastfeeding or who have a sensitive baby for the industrial milk substitutes.
